Default Tired Of The Vista

Can I just say this one more time: Vista sucks! I am so tired of getting spammed, getting asked “are you sure…” for everything and getting nagged for constant updates. And mostly I am tired of hearing my employees cry out from their desks in frustration dealing with this godforsaken operating system. The last thing I want to do is reinvest in another office application, so I wonder where can I find some kind of solution without plunking down another couple thousand dollars?

At first I was wondering what email had to do with Vista when you said spammed, but I figured it out.

Have you thought about turning off the UAC? It can be done - some experts recommend it, some don't. Do you trust your employees enough though?

Tell me more as I have just ordered a shiny new dual core flying machine from Dell with Vista on board. I currently use XP Pro and have found that the only version better than win2K.

One other thing to consider is to right click on the program and choose run as Administrator. A bit of a pain and I have one program that I have to do with that. The others, I set up to write in the correct directory so that permissions are already set.

We upgraded a few months ago and really did not have that many problems. I still have my XP pro downstairs and since the interface is pretty much the same, I forget which one I am one. The graphics are nicer on Vista but I think a bit overdone.

I haven't had issues with Vista myself. Nothing special, but at the same time not the frustrations you describe.

I don't understand. Corey, can you explain a little bit what the issue is.

Well when he said spam, I thought the OP was referring to email, but realized that he meant all those little dialog boxes. I don't get them much any longer though.

I know MS had a problem last week or the week before last that said everyone's genuine copy of Vista was not genuine. Fortunately I try to download all updates as soon as they come out - but I think that was a short-live issue last Friday

I actually like vista, but I have had a few problems which I don't know if they are Vista related or my docking station. Every time I dock my settings are different and I have to reset some of them. The dialog boxes are a minor annoyance, but nothing I get stressed over. Though this morning a dialog came up while I was typing and I must have hit enter because the dialog disappeared before I could see what it said and my computer shut down. That pissed me off because I lost what I was typing.

I'm not a fan either...maybe I will get used to it but it just sucks up too many computer resources...ugh

The only real problem I have with resources is Outlook 2007 actually. It sometimes locks up for a few seconds and both Cores are running pretty high.

A few programs starting, I see the cores running over 50% for a second or so. But it is Outlook that is really the memory hog on my new computer. I did download a few fixes that some Microsoft MVPS recommended and that helped some. I have a pretty last OST file - and I archive every two months usually to help keep everything under 1 G, but usually by the end of the year I have a 2G OST from the sent items alone
