Default How Do You Target Your SEO Work For Local Marketing?

What strategies do yo use for targeting local business SEO wise? Is it important to get a presence on local websites or is it about keywords base don your local area(i.e. city name)?

A few quick tips for local:

For local SEO it's extremely important that your website is mobile friendly. The stats on local shoppers using their phones to search for local business and products is staggering.

Make sure you're correctly picked up on Google Maps as well as Yahoo, Bing and Apple.

Work on building citations on credible sites.

Those are resources and tools, not strategies.

A strategy is a plan for achieving an objective. It may include resources and tools needed for use in achieving your objective, but your post is like saying that your strategy to get from your starting point to your destination is your car.

What roads will you take? How will you avoid danger spots? Where will you take breaks for meals, sleep, etc? Where will you stop for fuel? What emergency equipment will you need? What clothing? etc etc etc.

Default Local SEO Strategy

In terms of strategies, I would suggest the plan my local SEO guy did for me, which included:

Validating and checking my website for NAP (Name/Address/Phone) info
Check and ensure NAP info included on Google + page
Check how many citations you currently have
Obtain additional citations - ensuring that NAP is exactly the same throughout

Citation sources he used included:

Local/National/Niche specific

this can include: Directories/Classified Ad sites / Blogs / Forums

Essentially anywhere that displays NAP information

Ensure that the quality of the citation sources are good, look at Domain authority / Trustflow etc

It worked well for me, I am now in good positions for local searches

Here are some things you would like to consider.

1. Get on Google My Business. This will help with local traffic that is searching your type of business.

2. If you have an adwords account, take a look as some keywords that relate to your business that is garnering high search volumes, then incorporate those keywords into your site. Perhaps you can create new pages to your site that focuses on the stronger key works.

3. On your site, be sure you have a different titles and descriptions on each page that relate to what the pages is about.

4. Where possible in the content of your page, include your location so that search engines can display it.

5. Social Media is a great way to gather a target audience. If you have maybe $100 - $150 extra per month, you can run some specifically targeted ads on Facebook and build up your local community.

You can promote your business through social media, classified posting. It will increase brand awareness. Also it will help to drive more traffic.

Build Local Citations According to Moz’s 2013 Local Search Ranking Factors survey, the greatest influence on a site’s local search rankings is their Google Places (now Google+ Local) page signals, so let’s start here! Building an optimized Google+ Local page is pretty simple.

You want to be sure that the information you provide on your page is consistent with what’s on your website. This includes business name, address, phone number, category, and business description. Be sure to include some geo-targeted keywords in your description as well.

  • (As Needed) Campaigns to get Credits from the Chamber of Commerce
  • (As Needed) Social Media combining with On-Page content distribution
  • (As Needed) Social Media Management
  • (As Needed) Local Landing Pages

Hopefully this will give you a bit of ideas at the very least on what you can do with your online marketing effort.
