Default Website Color Problems?

I'm asked constantly by Newbies about selecting the proper colors and/or HTML code for websites, so here's some useful info...

On Visibone, select any color on the wheel and it will show you what it looks like, along with corresponding colors.

On Hype's Color Specifier, just click the left text link to see what the color will look like in your browser; then select the proper HTML code on the right side.

Just so everyone realizes…just because the color looks a certain way on your computer screen there is no way to be sure of how it will show up on your visitors browser.

There are simply too many issues at play. From differences like the make & model of your monitor to how you have your screen settings managed.

Even the age of your monitor will have an impact on color. Color is certainly a huge component to your design and I've actually written a short article about it on my directory site. But a lot of people think they can hold their business cards up to the screen to get a sense of whether the screen colors match their corporate identity.

Unfortunately, that kind of control is unrealistic.

What you say is true Crimson Fox -- I was simply giving everyone a "go-by" pertaining to colors.

Funny you should mention "business cards up to the screen to get a sense of whether the screen colors match their corporate identity" ... that's the biggest problem I have when designing biz cards for clients -- they have a hard time distinguishing between a "website" and a "business card" and how each is displayed differently in a web browser.

Yeh no problem TAAZ, what you've supplied is a good resource. Just wanted to give people a heads up on color issues and the web.
