Hi everyone!
I think you should post 2-3 comments on each forum and use 10-15 forums daily for comments..

You can post just a few if you want, but the trick is to be engaging. That mean write a post and in that post ask a question, or give some advice, every-time a person reply like I did, it push you post back to the top of the forum so that new people that's visiting the forum will see your post and reply, and then your post get pushed by to the top. The more reply people see the more they want to reply.

I agree with the comments above - 15 - 20 a day is sufficient. What you post has to be engaging and relevant to the forum and thread you post in.

Default Quality is more important than quantity!

Spammers always think in terms of QUANTITY.

Smart forum marketers always think in terms of QUALITY.

The first attitude is what inevitably leads to the oceans of digital toxic waste that search engines have to try to sift through and classify in order to deliver SERPs that are genuinely relevant and useful to their users.

The harder you make that task for search engines, the more likely you are to be punished and penalized. The arrival of the semantic web in recent years has been largely ignored by too many people — including SEO "experts" who continue to emphasize QUANTITY of backlinks, rather than QUALITY.

As others have mentioned in previous posts, if you're serious about getting it right, forget about numbers. Concentrate on building awareness and credibility for yourself as someone who delivers value and usefulness (they're not the same thing).

Forums are still the core technology of the Internet, originally in the form of bulletin boards on Usenet, then forums like this one, then Web 2.0 — the interactive, social web.

Focus on building relationships — real, living, breathing connections with people, not algorithms. That takes a clear vision of what you want to achieve, time, effort and self-discipline… the Four Cornerstones of Success.

Otherwise you’re trying to push thousands of marbles up a steep hill — hopeless, and all you really do with that kind of stupidity is to create hazards for everyone following you.

Building awareness and credibility through delivering quality, value and usefulness on your part will eventually lead to respect, warmth and trust for you on the part of your followers.

These are the people who will BUY from you. And this is how you turn your buyers into your most productive, profitable SELLERS.

So stop trying to choke and drown the Internet with QUANTITY of digital drivel, sewage and garbage and be seen as someone with information and opinions that are worth hearing and learning from… a true authority in your chosen area of expertise.

John, on what criteria do you base that kind of strategy?

Or is it a figure you plucked from thin air?

There are no particular limitation at all. You need to focus forum PR & niche related forum which is related to your business.
