Congrats on the sales and success you already have. CafePress is a great business model thatís getting even better each quarter so Iím sure even greater success awaits. Donít forget the affiliate programme also lets you make money by linking to other peopleís designs too. Eg youíre welcome to affiliate with my pro-breastfeeding designs at [see signature file for URL]

The site looks great

code fix for thelactivist.com - add "clear:both;" in your CSS #footer ID so it will clear the bottom right of the "contact us" page.

LOL...it's Thanksgiving man! People take holidays... Well...actually, we never take holidays here at Search Engine Guide, but we did this week. We're on break until Monday.

No promises, but I may get one posted later tonight or tomorrow...shhhh....don't tell Robert. I'm not supposed to be working...

Default Day 10 - Search Engine Marketing Goes to Work and Affiliate Sales Pay Off

Full Text: http://www.searchengineguide.com/laycock/006230.html

Day ten was finally the day that I got to put some of my own experience to work on the site. After more than a week of trudging through things like graphics, style sheets and actually running a business, I finally had access to a keyword research tool. That meant that I could focus day ten on finding out what people were actually searching for and doing some fine tuning to the site to make sure that I was there in the search results for them to find.

Thumbs up Follower

Hi to everybody,

This is very interesting project so I deceided to follow it.
I'm my case it is real zero Cash based. No previous sales no $100 for Google Adwords.

I have to point out that I am a really new in this type of business.

I started with tree different shops:
[see signature for url] (5 days)
[see signature for url] (3 days)
[url removed] (3 days)(not ideology, strictly business

I still think how to generate traffic.
I'll probably start the affiliate program soon.

Do you have any suggestions and advice
Thanks in advance.

Zlatko

Hi Zlatko! Welcome to the forum.

I had to edit out your urls because they aren't allowed in the posts as per forum rules.

I did set up a signature file for you though so your first two urls will appear with each of your posts automatically. The only reason I didn't add the third url was we have a limit of two for signature files.

If you'd like to change your signature file, you can find details on doing so here:

Google gives coupons like these away to anyone, you just need to know when and where they are doing so. For example, I "attended" an online expo where Google had a virtual booth. I got a $100 coupon just for giving them my email address.

What we all should do is keep an eye out for when Google does this again and let everyone know. I know there will be another online expo in April 2006 but there are sure to be other opportunities before that.

I discovered this 30 day trial in the Warrior forum and thought I'd check it out. It is very interesting.

My one comment is that it is a bit skewed in favor of success since it is being done in a forum as it happens. Since there is already a following for the author, people follow and support the effort.

What you need is a side by side test. You need one where you are not advertising your project to peopel who know you. The no money aspect is the easy part IMHO, it is the traffic and starting a site where no one knows you that would be the real challenge.

Do this again when you finish as "Jane Doe" and don't let anyone know you are doing it. Only "Jane Doe" can post to OTHER forums and venues.

Even the way you are doing this, it is still an interesting experiment.

PhilC over at the the Geeks on Steroids forum tried to make the same point, but here's where I argue...

While I knew I'd have the advantage going into it of forum traffic, the reality is that the people that have picked up the story and blogged on it have mostly been people that are surprised to find the series and that don't know me. On top of that, the search industry is not buying my product. Moms are.

The links that send buyers are the ones in search engines and in parenting forums. Those people have no idea who I am. Someone finds the shirt on the CafePress store and makes a post about it and viola, lots of traffic.

Also, the links from the industry all point to the article series, very few point to the Lactivist site. That's why in my referrals, my biggest source of traffic is my own articles. That's followed up by parenting discussion forums, CafePress's search engine and regular search engines.

What I'm saying is, I see your point...but the only benefit taking place in this project when it comes to me being me is that Search Engine Guide is getting some great publicity. It's not making a lick of difference when it comes to selling shirts.
