Default Please Review My Blog On Outsourcing

I've set up a blog around small business outsourcing advice. I work in a BPO that works mainly with small businesses and I spend a lot of my time educating new clients on how to benefit from sending work overseas effectively. This is my first attempt at a place to organize my thoughts and provide them clearly to prospective clients and others interested in hiring remote workers. I've also written an e-book on the subject (link on the main page) which I'm still finishing up, so hopefully this will be a sales lead in, but also valuable info on its own.

Any feedback on the design, content, navigability (is that a word?), SEO, etc is appreciated.

The URL is http://sourcingsmall.com

Looks good. A nice, simple clean design.

Two things you might consider adding. A Contact Us page and a Search box. There are plugins for setting up both.

The email address on your About page will soon become a spam magnet. A contact page can easily be set up with Captcha (or however you spell it) to trap spam.

A search box is useful for both visitor and you, when you have lots of posts. I have a blog with close to 500 posts and frequently use the search box to find old posts, that I want to refer to, and internally link too.

Also since you have lots of space on your nav bar, would something descriptive rather than book, be more effective?

Thanks for the advice. I'll definitely get a contact page set up with a CAPTCHA on it.

Any thoughts on SEO? I've been posting all my articles to Ezine and a couple other article directories after they get indexed by Google. I was thinking of trying FB and twitter (kind of set up now). Anything I'm missing?

Thanks again,

Generally, I think you site is good clean layout.

regarding the email thing, captcha is a good idea, or if you want to leave the email there you can use an email cloaker. they just break the characters into their codes, and hides them in a js write. simple, robots are too lazy to decode them.

some other things to consider...
Your opt-in form is hidden well below the fold, and there are 1000's of free guides out there. I recommend making the first page a static call to action page that sells the free report. tell them to sign up to get the free report. How much is it worth? tell them. How will it help them? Tell them. How soon can they implement what it contains? tell them. then tell them to sign up again. I dunno why, but most people do nothing if they're not told to.

Also, I'd consider a video of some sort on the main page... just keeps people into things these days. many strong marketers say if you're not marketing with video, your not really marketing.

As for your question about "Are you missing anything?" .. see above, and Bookmarking is important. Ninja tip...You will get more Google love if Social media leads them to your site rather then a ping. So on the important posts... disable the pings and bookmark immediately. (don't do that for every post though)

press releases ... especially if it's a new blog. many free ones, though PRweb.com gets better results it's also $$. (Google free press releases)

There are hundred other things you can do... valuable blog commenting, squidoo pre-sales page (needs real content or will be cut), wetpaint, etc. Google your keywords and see what kind of pages are coming up .. do those.

Thanks for the great advice. I'm going to spend sometime this weekend trying to implement your suggestions.

Looks good! The only thing I would suggest is that you should build a custom header/logo to make the site more memorable.

Well, looks pretty clean and neat for me, the menu is really well-done, the only thing I'd make the color combination a bit brighter and add some images

Since a suggestion was made in 2010 to add a contact page and it takes maybe 3 minutes tops, It makes me think making any suggestions for you would be met by the same apathetic result, so I will save my time.

If you haven't made the change because you don't know how, just go to your Wordpress dashboard and click on plugins, then Add a Plugin and enter 'clean contact' in the search box, install the plugin and activate it. Finally change the settings to your desires and create a page called 'Contact' and paste this code on it: [clean-contact]

A simple turnkey business you can own.
