Default The Best Free Forum Software

Hi, I was searching on this forum before posting this thread but I could not find answers for these questions.

I found the following forum softwares:

vBulletin (Paid)
phpBB (Free)
Simple Machines (Free)
Yabb (Free)

Looking around, I found vBulleting (software of this forum) is the best of all forum softwares but it requires us to pay about $160, which is not bad at all.
If you know other software that is better than this one, please let us know.

From the Free Forum Softwares, which one is the best and may have similar or better features than vBulletin? If you do not have one in particular but know their features, please let us know which software manages better some of those features.

If you know another Free Forum Software that is not in the above list and may be compared with them, please let us know indicating why you consider it should be added to the list.

Thank you

phpBB is really nice...that's what I will be using when I launch my support forum.

phpBB is great. We use it as an internal data management tool to keep track of projects that we are working on.

I have seen several forums that use it and I think its easily comparable to vBulletin. There are a bunch out there that are pretty rotten that people actually pay for. I'm amazed.

phpBB would be a fantastic support forum.

You'll see 20 times the phpbb than you will the others combined. That should tell you something.

Be careful with phpbb because I've heard that it gets hacked frequently so always make a copy of your site.
