Default Need Feedback On This Idea

I have an idea but I am not sure how attractive it will be. I have been looking for a mandarin tutor that can do lessons through skype. The reason for this is because I have a very busy schedule so I don't have time during the day to go take lessons. I have tried online ways to learn mandarin but found most of them pretty useless. So I have decided to create a platform where tutors can post up their availability and people interested in learning a language but don't have time can see who will be willing to do it online.

Does anyone have any recommendations or any thoughts about this idea? or is it simply not worth pursuing?

Wow that is a great idea! I wouldn't have thought of that, but I bet a lot of people are in the same boat as yourself.

I wouldn't know how to go about doing it, but to get tutors you could go to local colleges or send a letter and let them know about it. Then some article marketing, SEO, SEM and you are in business! Don't forget to monetize your site even more by offering DVDS / audio learning by the big companies.

I really love this idea though!

Check out www.lingo24.com.

They do not teach as far as I know, but they are an online translation service that does millions of dollars worth of business. Perhaps looking into this successful translation service will help you shape your tutoring service.

Also, see an interview with the owner here:

Interesting idea, but you will be in direct competition with EduFire [dot] com. It's a great place and they even have group classes. Teachers there can also offer their services through Skype, and on individual basis.
