Default Is Google trying to Adwords?

I think this is a great thing for content sites!

If you look at recent eye moment heatmaps on SERP's something interesting becomes noticeable... ad fatigue. Eyes are skipping over where they used to have the ads like avoiding noise or fast-forwarding though commercials.

Like in a grocery store, every so often they change the layout so your old habits are broken and you pass by new things again...

I'm not sure what the end effects of this will be, but it seems to provide better positioning for positions 2-5, especially now that above the fold is not always 'local' results. I've noticed Google is still testing the layout .. sometimes the first few links are organic websites followed by local places with contact numbers, sometimes local is at the top.

...it seems adwords got the low end of the stick here getting pushed lower --- increasing competition for top position as either way only a couple ads may be above the fold under the map. more money to Google for less visibility for advertisers --- not sure how that will go over.

Are you talking about the features added on left hand site column? Like “Anytime”, “All results”, “Page preview”, “more Search Tools” etc? But they are not new at all. Except these, I suppose the paid results on the right hand side column have increased for the brand name, e-commerce and supplies/store. Please make the point more clear, about what changes you are taking? This will help us to provide you, better explanation. Thanks!

I agree to you on this point and it will not be a big deal for Google!

I have seen the new layout of google but there is an option to deactivate this new layout. You can go for the old setting by using its preferences. I am still with the old one. Its more faster then the new one.

One beneficiary of the new layout for local search results is Google Places. Links to and content from Google Places now occupies several times the space on a search result page that it once did.

For the longest time Google seemed to neglect what is now Places but in the last year or so has been making some aggressive moves to promote it.

If you are a business owner and have not yet claimed your Places listing, the time is now.

I see a different Google layout almost weekly it seems. They are always testing things... some things are obvious... some changes are VERY subtle. The goal is almost always to improve their interface for users making it easier for the user to get to the desired information... and as a result improving their bottom line.

layout is not related to the maps which search on the Google. layout can be in any sense. it can be, how it represent the various searches on the internet like it shows the videos , theoretical representation, diagrams about the various searches. I think it is the Google layout
