Default Long Tail Brings a Variety of Traffic and Authority

I have an authority site in the food niche and it began ranking for long tail keywords way before it ranked for the popular short tail versions.

I notice that people can search for specific subjects using all types of keyword phrases. Ones I could never have thought of myself. As your site ages, it will begin ranking for a larger variety of long tail words.

If you do a good job of promoting your site, eventually, your site could also rank for some of the top short phrases - the best of both worlds!

When doing your keyword research, donít focus your efforts on keywords with high total searches per month. The majority of keywords with large searches per month arenít necessarily buyers. Longer-tail keywords, or more specific phrases, often get less searches, but have higher conversions because the consumer tends to be looking for exactly what they are going to buy. Since long tail keywords are easy to optimize I can say that long tail keywords are beneficial to drive more traffic other than short tail keywords.

Of-course long tail or mid tail keywords easily ranked your website but you should also target your short tail keywords because they are the main keywords

Long tail key words are more effective in generating traffic as it matches well with the query entered by the user. Once your long tail keyword is optimized you can target single keyword from the tailed keyword.

Well a simple example would be "groupon clone", "elance clone" as short keywords and "groupon clone development", "elance clone development" would be long tail keywords.

Default Long Tail Keywords Show More Good Results!

I did SEO for almost 16 projects till date. I observed that I got more good results for long tail keywords in terms of ranking. As such I have never observed big rise in traffic due to long tail keywords. Please correct me if I am considering something wrong but I am sure about the rise in ranking due to long tail keywords. Thanks!
