A high competitive keyword will take several months or years to establish in the search results and also depends on the skills of the practitioner.

OMG. It would take time. More time. Like months to a year if you start from scratch. It's a slow process. It's not like Google will kick others who have long been there to make way of your site. You have got to compete to tell Google you deserve to be there at the first page of the SERPs.

If you are following search engine guideline in ideal way, then it will take 3-6 months. But It is also depends on your keyword competition.

Check 1st page top competitors what they can do for there website same do for your website.

And most important factor is on-page check all on page like meta title, description, URL structure, Alt tags image, robots.txt, xml sitemap, headings tags, structure data, redirection, canonical tags, non www to www, HTML sitemap, website page speed, website blog & most thing CONTENT in this use 2-3 times your keywords. Keyword density also most important in website etc..

Off page also very important google listing, profile creation, Social Bookmarking, classifieds ads, blog post, article submission, PDF submission and etc...

But I thought you can check 1st competitor website.

It takes time to rank on Google first page depending on your niche and your competitors. You need a thorough research to find your top competitors and find what they are doing. In that way you can gain an insights to implement what are need to be done to outrank your competitors in google serp's results page.
