Default How To Get Customers To Buy From Ecommerce Site

Hey,
I have just started an ecommerce site to sell indian fashion clothing. I have not made a sale through the site yet, its been 1 week and about 4 days. I have started adwords and got an increase in traffic but still no sales.
Is there some steps I can follow to make it easier for customers to make a purchase, let them know that it is legit, or any Marketing ideas.
Also want to say that I have a facebook page through which I've made a 4 sales already mostly to friends and family, but the website is not doing much right now.
I'm new to business so I would appreciate the help.

Thanks in advance,

Make your site more attractive to grab customers attention
Use secure payment gateways
Allow your customers to become your site registered users by using their social media sites log in details
Offer some discounts and rewards to your customers
Receive customers reviews, ratings and testimonials about your products and services.

The site should be user-friendly and quick in navigation. Of course, appearance matters. Reliable payment services should be provided. Providing offers, coupons and discounts like "buy1 get 1" is an excellent way to gain traffic and makes sales.

I think it is better to start to sell your products with some offers and gifts. Because most of the people love to buy products with discounts or flat rate.
First sell your products with discounts and acquire more customers. Then automatically you can improve the performance of your site.

True! To make people aware about your offers and deals you can implement a mobile loyalty app that sends notifications about the offers to the person's mobile phone.

There's so much to it that it's impossible to help much in a forum post. Read, read, read about conversion rate optimization. Watch what big players like Amazon, Crate and Barrel, and Zappos do and try to implement things you see them doing.

Here's a couple of important factors (by no means all of them):

1) Phone number in the header so it's visible on every page.
2) Use the words 'Secure Checkout' on your site.
3) Have contact information, security logos visible on the cart page and through checkout process
4) Tell shipping prices up front and before they even put the item in cart if possible. Unknown shipping charges or charges that get added at the end of the checkout process kill conversions.

In general think about every objection your customer may have to purchasing from you, and every question they may have, and alleviate those objections and answer those questions early in the process.

Good luck!
