Default Afterthought #2

After re-reading my previous reply (above) a few weeks later, I realized that I overlooked an important benefit offered by Facebook Groups in the process of persuading Group Members to sign up for your mailing list.

These days, when people are wary of signing up to mailing lists until they feel they can trust the list owner, Facebook Groups offer a very effective way to introduce Group Members to the kind of positive experiences they'll enjoy from joining your list.

I'm talking here about the Files, Events and Photos tabs just beneath your Group Header image.

Upload 2-3 short PDF Reports or Ebooks for group members to download. At the end of each downloadable document, include a low-key pitch and sign-up link for your mailing list.

Give them solid reasons for joining your list like the fact that Facebook keeps on limiting the number of people who receive notifications, or special events or offers for LIST members only, etc. Remind them that Facebook can delete Groups if they choose, and you want to ensure that communication is uninterrupted by Facebook's unpredictable decisions and their chase of profits for their shareholders.
