Google treats forum signatures in a different way. Not that it's in their algorithm but when you have 100 posts with same keyword in your signature (hyperlinked). Google will discount atleast 50 posts (links) and count the rest.

I'm not sure that's accurate MarkWil, but am willing to be proven wrong. Can you point us to documentation within Google that says that about forum signatures?

There is nothing from Google on "forum signatures". However, it has been proven that google divides the "link juice" going to your website by keeping many factors like:

- relevancy
- outgoing links (the more, the less link juice)
- if there are 100 posts (100 urls, basically) coming from one website, google algo only give out 1/1 link juice to those links.

This is just in my experience.

Just FYI - my name is Mark Williams

I would say Mark is probably right as I have noticed similar treatment of multiple links from one domain.

I'm not sure about that one, because Google not clearly stated that they divide the backlinks if it is from same url. Anyway I receive small amount of traffic from forums.

It depends on what the topic of the forum is for signatures to drive direct click throughs. Also it could depend on the quality of your posts and the value readers derive from them.

Best of luck!

Contributing to the forums and building a reputation is far more important than getting traffic directly from the forums. Some forums get spidered by search engines and if you have a sig-file in place it helps to build your incoming links.

A relevant link to the type of the forum in your signature will bring you some traffic, probably visiting in length. Furthermore, signatures also build backlinks that will give your site an increased pagerank. Make sure that your link is relevant to the forum topics.

Is there anybody who has a forum signature link relating to a forum signature link?
