I'm in a similar predicament, but with Twitter. Have a good amount of Facebook and LikedIn connections, trying to build up Twitter. I think it's all about taking the time to engage others, and it will come in due time.

Smile I have no friends

You take into account all the responses and realize that you keep working on it and your friend's list will start to grow. As long as you don't quit you will progress. Sometimes information is given in a way that make us think if we click a few buttons we are on our way to success. I have found that time, work and efforts combines and creates success. Don't give up and you will succeed.

It is, Boca

I'm one of those with a relatively small list of followers. For my main Twitter account I have 361 followers, and I've gotten them all either from my email signature, forum signature, I guess, and then I noticed new followers when I've twitted something, probably because of a keyword trickering somebody.

So again, activity works. You write, some come.

You can get more followers by following others and hope, they'll follow back automatically. I don't like that type of followers. I prefer to find somebody who wants to connect with me, because of what I write, and not just because I've chosen to follow them.

After all, how responsive can a follower be, if he already follows thousands of others?

I agree, BritMalka. It's a quality vs. quantity thing. So many on Twitter care about nothing but a high follower #, but to me all that gives you is clutter and there's no way to manage such high followers. Much better to have meaningful dialogue and engage with your followers.

Yes, Boca

But I cannot help laughing, when I get one of those: xxx is following you on Twitter, and I see that xxx has written 1 tweet, and has 7895 followers and follow 7896 people.

I bet they all just used automatic follow back, and since they didn't notice that this guy isn't worth following, they probably are lousy followers themselves.
