Social networking sites can be used to expand your network. Posting announcements and frequent updates via Twitter or Facebook are good marketing strategies to attract clients to your business.

Social networking sites help one get great traffic. But it depends on what type of target audience one is looking at.

On the contrary, the Internet is still the biggest marketplace and social networking serves as the current best way to expand your reach to highly targeted audiences as well as others. And until there's free and surefire way to better it, it will remain as an effective medium in my opinion.

I am just starting at social networking and I was told by my business coach to join four main ones. Digg, Stumbleupon, Reddit and Delicious. At the moment I am just focusing on digg and stumbleupon. He told me when you first join these sites it is important to set yourself up well i.e explore the site and get comfortable using it, add things you like to your favorites, and try make as many friends as you can.
He said a good model was has two or three out of every ten sites you bookmark be related to your own site.
Hope some of this information is useful to others.

Digg is very strict. They have banned me before for some unknown reason. However, i think Digg should be the first to start with. I think your selection is really good.

Here is how I define social media marketing:
1- Reaching out to your target market
2- Connecting with your target marketing
3- Providing value for your target market
4- Redirecting them to your website

Social networking is helpful for businesses because they can be used to interact with clients and establish networks to get new ones. They can also introduce your products and services to the worldwide web and hopefully invite them to your website.

Getting traffic form Social Media depends upon, your presentation of yourself and the presentation of your business at these websites. No doubt social media websites like, stumble, facebook , Digg , can give you a good amount of traffic, but the thing that matters is the relevancy of the links that you are sharing at these websites...
