Soon to be starting a service business, one of the things I'll be doing is giving presentations. I'll have enough stuff to drag with me to the presentations (equipment, handouts, swag, et cetera), and taking my laptop along isn't desirable. So, I began researching ways to give my presentation with my iPad.
It was during my research that I discovered the Keynote app. Although you can make a presentation with the app itself, it does not have all the bells and whistles PowerPoint has. However, if you make a presentation with PowerPoint, you can upload it to Keynote and use the app to show the PowerPoint presentation.
In addition to the iPad, I will use an HDMI cable to connect the app to a projector, and will also use a portable projection screen.
The one downside was not wanting to have to swipe my finger across the iPad to advance the presentation from one slide to the next. So, I then began researching remotes. Although there is a remote control available for purchase, which has a built-in laser pointer, I was able to locate an app called Keynote Remote.
With Keynote Remote, I am able to use my iPhone as the remote. Now, I can pace around the room with my iPhone in my hand, and advance the slides forwards and backwards without having to do so on the iPad itself.
Personally, I think showing the presentation this way has a cleaner look than if I were to use a laptop. I also think it shows a little bit of tech-savvy, which may look favorable to my clients.
Is anyone else using this method to give presentations? If not, what are you using?
