A few things that may help you figure this out:
  1. Keep in mind, Google won't necessarily use the description you've entered in your META tag. They can (and do) display other content as the "snippet" in the search results when they feel that some other content on your page would be more relevant. Here's more information from Google about this issue.
  2. Do you have a listing in DMOZ? Google has also been known to use the DMOZ description instead of what's actually coded on the site pages. If this could be the problem, use the following to stop this behavior:

  3. The third possibility is that Google simply hasn't yet spidered those pages to see the updated description. Check your Google Webmaster Tools account and see if there are any crawl issues, how many pages have been crawled recently, etc. (If you don't yet have a Webmaster Tools account, set one up -- you get a lot of important and useful information that way!)
