Default Buying Competitors List Of Customers

Hi all,

I've had one of my competitors that closed there doors last month call me and offered her account list and art. I've not had experience in buying accounts and NEED help. I'm interested in the customers, but have no clue in nigotiating a fare price for the list.
FACTS
1) list of about 9000
2) Asking price $35000.00
3) 25 clients on this list spend $2000. average monthly
4) Not sure what the 25 clients are spending now with the economic down turn.

I'm having lunch with her on Thursday and will get more info. then.
PLEASE HELP!

Thanks again,
KQPDave

Hi Dave, first off welcome aboard

That is an interesting scenario. I'd be hesitant without at least sampling the list before purchasing. Ideally I'd try to work out a scenario where they earn revenue based on any completed sales so that you are assured you are not stuck with nothing more than a large bill. Do they have anyone else to sell this list to? If not, I'd consider your position strongly and devise a plan so that you can take advantage of the potential revenue while sharing in any profits as appropriate with this person. Personally, I wouldn't throw down 35k on any list. I can go find and call on people myself for much less.

Thanks Logan,

One of the ways to purchase accounts would be to give 5% to10% of every job from her customer list for about 6 to 12 mos. 10% at 6mos. and 5% at 12 mos.We would higher her as a CSR and she would connect with these accounts. She would get paid for producing + a wage.
