Actually there are many good books about search engine optimization. Also there are a few web-sites about it. YOu can easily find them on google.

The best place to start is with good articles that are filled with longtail keywords. Next, add backlinks.

I agree with what has been said before: if you even hire a SEO specialist, you still need self-education. You will need to get backlinks for your website regularly - you can earn them naturally by creating and sharing useful content, asking your clients to leave reviews on the Web. This requires time and resources, so be ready.

Torka has indeed covered everything about On Page and Off Page SEO. I would advise you to focus on SMO too. For website branding and exposure, you should correctly optimize your social media profiles. You can also try your hands on Facebook and Twitter Ads besides working on PPC.

SEM is something that we do not possess knowledge of creating google campaigns and that is a continuously flow of money to keep the campaigns up. So what we are looking for is to gain some more display in the Google results for our site. It seem to be more capital efficient.

SEO is actually part of SEM (search engine marketing)

SEO - search engine optimization - ranking on the keywords you are targetting takes time but once you gain the results, you definitely enjoy it. If a prospect finds your website when he/she is searching for a particular product/service, the closing rate for the deal is bigger since he/she's interested.

Another SEM strategy is the PPC or pay per click. The results for this one can be seen immediately as long as you have the budget. You will be bidding for keywords and will compete against other competitor. But the results here is not forever especially if you don't have the budget anymore.

The best combination would be to invest both in SEO and PPC.

I have doing SEO for 3 years, if your business small like that. I suggest you to run a PPC campaign. You don't need to know to much, just pay some for GOOGLE, they will let your link on the top of page

Just to be clear regarding the previous post. Paying Google for AdWords advertising will NOT have any influence on your organic listing. It will (potentially, if you're willing to pay enough) get your paid listing to the top for your chosen keywords, but Google has always been quite clear there is no connection between organic search rankings and paid advertising.

First you need to choose where you need to rank your website and then for that you need to create more backlink for your website.. by submitting your link and keywords in different off Page submissions..
