No, SEO means optimizing to every worthwhile search engine out there.
How do you optimize for multiple search engines anyway? What would you do for one that you would not do for another? If one search engine has lower standards and responds more readily to spam, do you add a bunch of spam to your site?

If starts optimizing a website solely for Google, i would rather suggest you to change the acronym of SEO into GEO which will stand for Google Engine Optimization.

Hi, MRchamps

Right, Google would be main arena for seoers to compete on. But, I think almost all seo strategies work for Google would work for other main search engines, too.

Have a nice day,

you can optimized your site keeping in keeping the criteria that different search engines follow. For instance Google pay much credence to Back links where yahoo pays much attention to content....but that doesn't mean that Google gives no value to content. A mix of different SEO tactics can help you in optimizing your site for all major search engines.

This is because google dominate search engines.Google takes all on-page and off-page aspects into account. So a site rnaks higher in google may rank well in other search engines like bing, yahoo etc.,

I think it's not only for google. There are many search engines out there but I must say that google is the best and it is the search engine that fits to any standards of a website. That's why google is the main search engine that people use. Monitoring also to other search engine is one of the key to help your site to get on the top.
