Default New Article - Bloglines Doubles Index in Six Months

Full Text: http://www.searchengineguide.com/laycock/004733.html

Some Snippets:

"Demonstrating the amazing rate at which bloggers are expanding the content of the Internet, Ask Jeeves' Bloglines has announced that they have doubled the size of their index since the beginning of the year. "

"Ten years ago, the trendy went online to build their own Web sites. The sites usually weren't complex, but they required some knowledge of HTML if you wanted to share pictures of your cat or talk about your day. These days, free blogging tools like Blogger, Live Journal and Bloglines make publishing a snap. Posting a blog is as simple as writing an email."

It's easy but confusing. I am not sure what the advantages are of one blog facilitator (bloglines, etc.) over another, if any. Also, most of them don't allow self-promotion -- so I am always surprised to read testimonials that one blog posting resulted in hundreds of search results because it spread and spread.

I'm not clear on what you mean by most don't allow self promotion?

Thanks for answering. I really am still trying to sort all of this out. I meant that it seems to me that it is not generally acceptable to mention or try to give a profile to your own company or employer.

Part of every blog is as bio section. People can choose to read it or not. To encourage people looking more closely at your company and you, your blog needs to give them valuable information (not about your product but about your expertise).

I know it seems weird to give stuff away but on the Internet it works! My blog has driven more business to my website than any other marketing method I have used to date. So, pick a topic, identify your audience and start writing!

Yep, the self promotion that people talk about with Blogs isn't so much "hey, look at me! buy my stuff!" as it is sharing your knowledge and information and having your name recognition go up because other people talk about what you know.

Look at Danny Sullivan, Jill Whalen, Kevin Lee, Shari Thurow and many other well known SEM's. They are well known because they share their knowledge for free and people notice it and talk about it.
