Default New Article - The Number One Rule of Organic Search Marketing

Full Text: http://www.searchengineguide.com/laycock/004414.html

Some Snippets:

"Ask these folks what the number one rule of organic search marketing is, and you're probably going to hear about how you need to add content, or how links are essential."

"Almost anyone that has been in search marketing for any length of time has at least a handful of stories about clients that presented them with enormous lists of keywords during their first meeting. It's usually not long before these lists are chucked out the window."

Good article Jenn,

I wonder, have you ever read any of Jay Conrad Levinson's books? You hit on a major point of his Guerrilla Marketing series. In a number of his books he makes the point that, in all marketing, you must talk about the customer and not yourself. The customer doesn't care about your widget or unique consulting model, they care about how they can make their life, business or job better.

Your keywords article aligns well with his points. All marketing, be it keyword selection or site copy, should be from the perspective of the prospect or customer. Give them the information they are looking for; they will find you.

One key thing business owners really need to get is that their ego doesn't buy their products or services. Sometimes they have so much in common with their clients and prospects, that doing what they like works, but it is a dangerous coincidence, that when it fails, can leave them, scratching their heads.
