Default New Article - LSI and Link Popularity

Full Text: http://www.searchengineguide.com/art.../0418_rc1.html

Some Snippets:

"With many Web sites no longer ranking for even their official company name, it is important to understand how sites get penalized for having unnatural backlink anchor text. SEO consultant Andy Hagans explains how to make link popularity and LSI work for you--without getting your site penalized."

"Latent semantic indexing can help overcome the "vocabulary mismatch" problem when a human uses a search engine. Individual words do not always provide reliable evidence about the conceptual meaning of a document."

This was a great article. Thanks for posting it.

The discounting of tons of links w/ the same anchor text makes sense. The article mentioned wanting to use a broad approach to what anchor text you'd want for your backlinks.

At my reciprocal linking page here I propose a certain anchor text and description. Maybe it would be wise to rotate that anchor text, or list 10 possibilities and rotate the order they're in (90% of people would probably choose the top one anyway if you didn't rotate).

Thoughts?

I'm not sure that keeps it natural 'enough' - i personally don't think your solution solves the problem, but i don't think anyone knows where the line in the sand is for sure to say - one solution i've been thinking about lately is to let the person providing a recip link to you determine the link text and description. By human nature it will vary. Is that natural enough? Not sure, but what more can one do.
