"Search engine optimization, also known as SEO, may seem like some sort of black magic to those who don't understand it. It's very difficult to figure out the best strategy when you can't even figure out which articles or websites you can trust."
"Learn the techniques that have withstood the test of time. Do your keyword research, write great copy that includes your important phrases naturally within it, write compelling Title tags that use the same phrases, and provide some linking code for other sites who might want to link to yours. "

The interesting thing I find about spam techniques is that they can work REALLY well, in the short term. But for some people, that's good enough. I remember a poster on a major forum pointing out that it was better to have 100 Web sites making $100 bucks a day than one Web site that makes $10,000 a day.
Why? Becuause if something happened to the rankings on one (or even dozens) of your sites, you don't lose all your money, whereas something happening to that one really successful site could cause you to go belly-up. That may be true...but does that only apply to the people that are pushing the spam limits to see what's going to get them banned and what will work to help them rank better? Is it good to have a few sites that you "play" with in terms of spam, just to see where the limits are? Or should you just stick to the straight and narrow and realize that your income may grow more slowly, but it will be more stable...
