Default New Article - Brand New Websites: A Search Engine Optimization Company Perspective

Authored by: Scott Buresh

Full Text: http://www.searchengineguide.com/bur.../1001_sb1.html

A Snippet:

It's an unfortunate fact – no matter how good your search engine optimization company or in-house talent is, brand new websites have a more difficult time achieving search engine success for competitive phrases than their older counterparts, particularly on Google. However, the worst thing that a new site owner can possibly do is presume that they are "too late to the game" and decide not to pursue this marketing channel at all.

Thanks for the article, Jenn. I found it very helpful. I have recently had the chanllenge of changing my company's name, and changing to a new domain. The previous domain had been around for 10 years, had lots of external links and some decent ranking. Needless to say, it's tough getting the new domain to achieve the same results, but we're off to a good start and within a year I hope to get some very good results.

I think the key for SEO on a new website is patience - it takes months and success is very gradual.

Hello

I just published my first website in early September. I purchased some PPC's from Yahoo and MSN (some free PPC' and some not). I have stopped the PPC's for now due to financial reason's. On my best day I had 39 visitors on my site, but NO sales. This of course is quite a concern. I also find it interesting that I have no page rank. Is this because my site is just too new to have any ranking, or is something else involved. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Rosemary
