Default New Article - Search Engine Optimisation-friendly Design In A Web 2.0 World

Authored by: Lisa Barone

Full Text: http://www.searchengineguide.com/barone/010515.html

A Snippet:

The Internet has been overtaken by pastels, Web sites are designed using advanced Ajax techniques, navigation is never consistent, and drop down menus are making it harder to navigate a Web site without the use of a mouse. The Internet may be a lot more appealing visually, but it is harder to navigate, especially for Internet users classified as disabled.

I don't like drop down menus.

Neither does one of the largest blogging networks who I noticed recently "dropped" the drop down menu after repeated requests from users.

I think the whole web 2.0 concept is flawed. The web is built on top of http protocol. The nature of it is request/response rather than interaction with a continuous session. Thus, any attempt to use too much AJAX is doomed to fail, as it is a shoehorn solution, a hack to try to make it work.
