Default New Article - Eternal Sunshine Of The Domainer Mind

Authored by: Todd Mintz

Full Text: http://www.searchengineguide.com/mintz/010071.html

A Snippet:

I've focused some of my affiliate marketing efforts in the area of "lifestyle pharmaceuticals" and birth control pills aren't really too far outside of that focus. I also consider myself a "domainer-in-training" and I'm making a conscious effort to vet every article that I read for a possible domain name purchase.

I'd say that was a really good purchase... wonder what he'll do with the site Adsense?

THIS IS WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE WEB!

These sites serve no specific value and do nothing but aggravate the end user. This tactic also hinders those who may have an idea for a valuable site from ever having a decent domain name. And for what? A couple cents in advertising.

This really rubs me the wrong way, although I suppose domaining in general does. When you register pages like this, fill them with optimized content, and dump adsense on the page, you're lowering the value of the internet to the average surfer.

To me, this is much of what's wrong with the internet these days.

When is the last time you landed on an optimized Adsense page and actually ended up finding what you were looking for? Obviously somebody is clicking, and maybe even eventually purchasing. But overall, these pages lead to bloat and interfere with the incredible potential of the most useful communications tool since the printing press.

I'm with Tanner and Andrew. Not a fan of drive-by domains ...
