Very good article on the basics of blogging - i actually just forwarded to one of my clients who want's to get into blogging.

While I'm not expert enough to agree or disagree with the Duplicate Content portions, however, I do question why the SE's can't/don't accept blogs as "legit duplicate content" The work-arounds you describe seem to counter-act the "overall simplicity of a blog" and I would hope that the SE's would recognize this and not penalize any dup content - especially WITHIN the same site/blog/domain/sub-domain, etc.

Now if you're feeding the RSS to other sites, or other subdomains, or otherwise, trying to use the content "elsewhere" then i could see a problem.
