Search Engine Guide Blogger

Default New Article - All About Title Tags

Authored by: Jill Whalen

Full Text: http://www.searchengineguide.com/wha.../0215_jw1.html

A Snippet:

The title tag has been — and probably will always be — one of the most important factors in achieving high search engine rankings. In fact, fixing just the title tags of your pages can often generate quick and appreciable differences to your rankings. And because the words in the title tag are what appear in the clickable link on the search engine results page (SERP), changing them may result in more clickthroughs.

Tags are really great help in promoting your site. Just make sure to make your tags specific so that you'll have a greater chances of getting on the first page of the search results.

Anyway thank you jenn for sharing this one. It really is helpful.

- title tag is important and it is more interested to start your title with keywords
- add to metatag description and start your article with your keywords you can have more chance to rank well for these keywords.

Good article. I always have wondered how many words were appropriate for a title tag.

Title tags ARE important but I would clarify and say it's one of the most important on-page factors. Building links to your site is the single most important factor.

Good article! I also wondered how many words may be appropriate for the title tag.

Thanks!

Don't feel bad, StageCoach--you aren't the only one. I don't understand either. In fact, I just finished asking what "digged" meant on another forum post. Haven't gotten a reply yet.

A title tag is an HTML tag used to define the text in the top line of a web browser. It is also used by many search engines as the title of search listings.

The information contained in a title tag appears at the top of the web browser when viewing a web page, and at the top of (most) search listings.

For example, if you look at the top of your browser right now, you will see the description "New Article - All About Title Tags - Small Business Ideas Forum."

Writing descriptive title tags is an important part of optimizing a site to rank well with the search engines (and get clicked by visitors).
