Default Creating a Buzz on a Budget

Some marketing tactics to consider.

"When I had a retail computer store I wanted to build a mailing list of possible customer's so I started a raffle. When someone first filled out an entry they got a mousepad with my banner on it. These cost me less than a dollar each which I figured that meant that I had a dollar into each customer. The raffle was for a $1,000 shopping spree in my store and i collected entries for a year before I held the raffle."

That was a great way to build a mailing list. Most business owners do a poor job in collecting and maintaining a list. You can build names from checks or even asking the customer's name to be on the store mailing list. You can do the give away in the article or even offer every customer a special discount or small gift to be on the mailing list. Customers on your mailing list are the most cost effective to advertise to. If you build a mailing list on a consistent basis, your sales should keep growing.

I'd like to take this concept a bit further. If you have a website you could easily apply it to that and build an email mailing list. Why not offer a $5 off coupon or some other discount for everybody that registers on your website. Or simply run a raffle online for everybody that signs up for your mailing list they get an entry for the same kind of raffle in a year. Anybody have other budget ideas that pertain to the internet and building an email mailing list?
