Default Bloggin for Business

Blogs can be an extremely effective tool to provided ongoing information that is of value to your customers and prospects. I agree that it shouldn't be used as a vehicle to blatantly advertise your products and/or services, but rather as a tool to demonstrate your commitment to serving those in your target market. So if you are considering a blog launch, just focus on a topic that is important to your audience and the rest will take care of itself, so to speak.

Karri has hit the nail on the head!
Blogging is an effective tool for any business, if you consider your audience first. Regardless of your business niche, if you have invested any amount of time in learning your trade--small business, publisher, book seller/writer, whatever--you have to consider yourself something of an "expert" on the basis of time invested. So, with that said, you already have something to offer a fanbase, which in time will generate a sincere following and from there, more (possible) sales.

Now, if you have invested time to learn a particular market, then you would have come up short in learning how to do something. With blogging you can turn your mistakes into tiny bits of helpful info that others may not know or understand. Take your shortcomings and turn them into more sales and more followers of your knowledge by sharing them with others!

Blogging is really effective if done in right way. You can generate good number of visitors from blogging. The content should be unique and effective.

Blogging is very easy as well as very difficult. It depends on what you write, what you want from the blog, how much time do you have.

If one person do blogging properly then his/her blog can get lots of traffic which can be monetized through placing ads in the blog. But I think blogging is not as easy as it sounds seems from outside. You need to do hard work as well as smart work to get success in blogging business.

I run a blog as a full-time business, so here's my thoughts on it.

First, let me say that I think there should be a word to describe industries where people who have spent years doing it try to dissuade everyone else from getting in the industry because they know how horrible it really is. For example, musicians, lawyers, and authors will all tell you, straight up, "Dude, this sucks. Do something else. Anything else. But for the love of god, not this."

And indeed...

For 99% of people, starting a blog is a terrible way to make money. You might as well take your money, shred it, spend a year sewing it back together by hand, and then light it on fire. You will still have saved time and heartache.

The most common way to monetize a blog is through ads, but anyone who does that will quickly see that ads don't provide a very lucrative revenue stream until you are extremely large (plus, it's not really under your control). Dan's answer is a terrific example of why an ad strategy sucks for most blogs.

On a personal note, I know several bloggers who have been able to go full-time using ads, but it is extraordinarily difficult to scale and you start to run into big incentive problems.

Hi Joseph,
Majority points are explained by forum members above but here I would like to share few quick tips that you should follow.
1: Don't think about to put third party banner ads until you reach a significant traffic volume ( 25K a month!).
2: Rather than setting up a general blog, I advise to keep it specific to your niche like Fashion, Travel, Personal Finance or Technology.
3: Keep posting blog posts on regular basis. If you want to publish 12 posts a month then post a post every two-three days.
4: Spend time on building quality links for your blog. It will enhance the Domain authority.

A blog is personal to the author. Therefore the author can chose the content, can chose the links in the blog, can choose which comments appear etc.
The blog author also presumably knows a lot about the subject. It is of interest to him/her and so he/she can write fluently on the subject.
It is the responsibility of the author to make the blog as interesting and effective as possible - a good blogger will do this.

Blogging requires passion, skills, and hard work. It's not gonna work by just pulling off an all-nighter. It takes constant amount of time and effort plus it requires huge amount of energy to carry out.
