Don't copy and paste product descriptions provided by manufacturers, Rewrite them completely. Try to make your descriptions truly unique with relevant keywords, rich information. You also need to solve pagination issues with using canonical tag. It will help to avoid content duplication issue.

Default Duplicate Content

If you are a re-seller of a particular brand then this can become a tedious job, instead of just copying what the manual says or PDF they have sent - re-write this text to be your own and you win two fold, you are not marked for duplicate content and you stand out amongst all the others.

Be creative, go look what they write on their website, are they missing anything you feel your customers should know - if so, add it, even if the manufacturer does not.

Do not ever copy and paste from one website to your own, all copy should be unique and yours.

Nothing else will work for too long if you choose duplicate content. It simply does not go down well with search engines. Quality content that's original, fresh, well-written ... is what search engines thrive on because it improves the quality of the results they can come up with.

So far as product descriptions are concerned, it is difficult to create original content, not impossible. Identify a good writer who can provide such content with a fresh perspective and new inputs - all of which make a difference between the customer buying at your store and leaving it to go elsewhere.

Such a writer should be able to provide enough samples of descriptions he/she has previously written. When you see one, you know what's a great investment.

Finally, nothing else will work better than ORIGINAL content. Long live the King!.
