Default New Article: Linking Campaigns Lead to Increased Online Visibility - Part 2

Authored by: Bill Hartzer

A Snippet:

Once you have great content on your web site, you first need to take care of your internal linking before dealing with getting external links from other web sites. Great internal linking also means that you link to your related topics and your most important products (if you sell products on your web site).

Default reciprocal link campaigns

I understand that one way links are always better but I wanted to increase my "resources" by adding relevant links that provide value to my readers. Are you saying that using some of the software that is out there like "Arelis" and others can't help you find relevant sites are for the benefit of visitors and not just for search engine rankings?

I have set up some "reciprocal link" pages on my site, ready to go, by category to make it easier for my readers, and will invite only those sites that meet our strict criteria for relevant content. Are you saying I shouldn't waste my time?

If you think those 'resources' links will be valuable to your visitors then by all means add them to your site. You always need to think about the people who come to your site first and search engines second.

Reciprocal links though aren't going to give you a boost in the search engines. They basically came into existence as a way to manipulate the search engines and the search engines have caught on and are greatly reducing the value of reciprocal links.

That doens't mean you can't or shouldn't use them. If they're helpful to your readers they should be there. If your main reason for having them on the site is to improve your search rank then it will be mostly wasting time.
