Default Interview with Dan Thies of SEO Research Labs

Authored by: Lee Odden

Full Text: http://www.searchengineguide.com/odden/007384.html

A Snippet:

When you think of keyword research services, the name that often comes to mind these days is Dan Thies. In developing his search marketing business, he was able to find a niche in keyword analysis and successfully progress that into search engine marketing and optimization training.

I've been a pretty big fan of Dan for a good few years and have purchased his keyword reports in the past. They're pretty amazing actually.

Quote:
I've always felt like keyword strategy was the most important part of search engine marketing, just as targeting is really the most important factor in any kind of marketing. This seemed like an obvious point to me, but nobody was really dealing with it in any kind of disciplined way.
That approach to the reports, for me anyway, gave a great foundation on how to approach other SEO functions such as copywriting, internal linking, and really solidifying site structure.

And I got to learn something new from the interview. The only SES conference I've been to is the same one he was first invited to speak at. Too cool.

Paul

I've become a fan of Dan lately as well. I've yet to manage to find time to dig all the way through his SEM Kit to review it (that thing is like a telephone book!), but I did moderate a panel that he spoke on at the last SES.

I've also hooked up with him recently for his online courses. I'm going to be teaching the PPC course that he'll be offering online starting next month. Should be fun, I always have a blast teaching.

Thans Jen,

I came across the interview earlier tonight through your link at Search Engine Guide. I've been learning a lot from Dan lately. I've read his free SEO Fast Start PDF and also listened to the Keyword Lecture. Both can be found here. The SEO Fast Start is at the top of the page and the Keyword Video Lecture (it's not really a video, mostly slides accompanying the lecture) is toward the bottom of the page.

Jen I noticed in the interview that Dan is planning an update of the SEO Kit later this summer. (I think he said August) You might want to time your review with the new edition. I'm curious myself about it. I assume it will be worth the price, but the price was a little on the high side for me to just jump in and buy it. The more I learn from Dan though the more I'm convinced the kit will be worth the price.
