Default Does PPC Work?

Hi

I'm interested in doing a Pay Per Click campaign through google. Based on my keywords it would cost around $20 per click. My return on converted clicks is around $500.

I'm concerned that this just doesnt make sense and that my competition could simply click on my adverts, incurring me costs, but clearly not purchasing.

A I over thinking this, do you think it would work for me?

Thanks

if it never worked - no one would use it and Google would be pretty upset as this accounts for around 80-90% of their income.

Default Not To Worry

Don't bother with those pricey keywords.

Pick another keyword related using the Google Adwords Keyword tool.

Also, use the estimated traffic tool to see if its likely these keywords will get clicks.

Just play around with it until you have a campaign that works.

Orrrr, there are a million and one places to advertise.

$20 per click seems pretty pricey. Have you looked at what it will cost for phrase and exact match versus broad match?

If you are making a maximum of $500 per sale you need a conversion rate of 4% to break even. Seems like a big ask to me.

Default Cheap clicks?

I have a very targeted word list and average about 5¢ per click with a monthly budget of about $27 or so. I got 317 clicks for that in Feb. I think that is worth it.

Default set small budgets and test

Set small budgets and see what happens. Do multiple versions of the same ads. Look at what keywords are best and use those exact words in your ads. For example, if you search for 10 megapixel digital cameras and see an ad for "electronics" it won't be as good as an ad that comes up saying exactly
"10 megapixel digital cameras, 20% off!"

Use different ad groups that match up with what was searched more specifically. Watch all of the google resources including easy to understand videos to make sure you are doing everything right. You might find that a slight change in words makes a big difference. Just watch closely so you can stop getting charged before its too late.

I've been experimenting myself a lot this week for google ads

I hope that helps. -Jeff

It definitely works, you might have to approach though. I think $20 is too much for PPC though, I know it's expensive but not that expensive.

It works but it like a tap you turn it on pay it works and once you run out of money / spent the budget all the customers stop, this is why SEO is often better value but slower results

I would say "a lot" As my one client running campaign for some keywords which are already on 1st position for organic searches. Still that keyword mainly get visit from PPC but not from organic
