I may say that there are two types of viral marketing namely electronic and manual. Electronic viral marketing is through the use of internet which targets the internet users in the whole world as an audience. Doing viral marketing manually means spreading the word of mouth in a certain country without the use of any machine.

1.Posting your site in a video through youtube
2.Social Bookmarking if i'm not mistaken.
3.Conversations with friends and relatives are consider to be the largest yet usually used viral marketing.

Hope that helped you.

You might also get products from other sites on a consignment basis and sell them to your note via your email-newsletter. Place descriptions, articles and photos of the product in your e-mail-newsletter. There will be those who will buy from you and when that happens, you can order the product from the other location and sell it to your buyer

The Hotmail.com is a typical example of viral-marketing is, the first free Web based email services. The plan is simple:

1. Offer free of charge e-mail addresses and services,
2. Connect a simple-tag at the base of every free message that is sent out: "Get your private email”.
3. Then wait while they e-mail to other network of friends.
4. Who check the message,
5. Sign-up for their free e-mail then
6. Push the message still wider to their circles of friends.

I think the best viral marketing campaigns usually look pretty simple however take a huge amount of resource to implement.

To get a great viral campaign going you need to do something novel and relatively unique. Also you need to have a great understanding of your target market.

i guess videos are the best options for viral marketing because it's easier to bury the brand within fun/entertaining stuff in a video rather than in a text or image. People are more likely to share some fun stuff if they don't realize that they are promoting something.

What kind of viral marketing path you choose really depends on what your business is. Could you provide us with a bit more information so we can help more? But as previous commenters have mentioned, there’s a lot of ways to go around it, the key is to attract attention.

One easy tip. Post buttons on your site pages that allow visitors to share via Facebook, Twitter, etc. That way, if they like your site or page, they can share it with others. This is fairly easy if you can find a widget.

You have to have a plan, and to know which crowd to target. Relevancy plays a huge role in any marketing, so you should prioritize this as well because hard work doesn't always mean results. Any kind of marketing will work as long as you do it the right way for the right people.

Default Use a free eBook

I agree with one of the earlier posts. One sure way to distribute your link to your website is to include it on every page of a free eBook. Works really well and spreads on its own.

If you want to start viral marketing, you need to give away products or services, exploit common motivations and behaviors, utilize existing communication networks like facebook or twitter, and takes advantage of others resources.
