it's better to get 5 heavy links from thematic sites with high PR rather then millions of links from so called directories that only consist of spammy auto generated "articles" and billions of links.

From my experience, it is very unstable and really depends on your nishe.
A lot of ads ged disapproved. CPC at times is enormously high.
