Ideas For Viral Marketing Travel Website

The term 'Viral Marketing' is fairly new to me. Having read some of the posts on this forum, it seems as though it can come in many forms.

The term, to me, means a form of marketing that spreads the word exponentially, in that 1 person tells 5 people, those 5 each tell 5 etc... for example.

It also seems like it could overlap with spamming and less ethical ways on marketing.

I have a couple of travel websites that I would like to promote more. Does anyone have any ideas for viral marketing that could spread the word effectively?

Viral marketing for travel websites could be creating funny posts or videos regarding “The 10 Weirdest Things Maids Found In A Hotel Room” or the “Funniest Things Ever Left By Accident In A Hotel Room”. This will grab people's attention in will very likely be shared over the web. I mean, who hasn't been in that situation?!

some unique offer perhaps that can only be found on your websites or to have a very cool and unusual website? the most important thing is to grab the attention of people, you already got one idea, and to me it sounds really good, but the question is how do you want to benefit from the viral visits?

it's one thing to have millions of daily visits, and a completely different to have any use from the visits (increase sales, or bookings in your case) my suggestion would be make a topic like the funniest things on your vacation and enable people to leave comments.

Information - is the real deal. If your website has some really amazing and relevant information then there is a very high probability that your website is referred to others. Also have engaging videos & images that are descriptive enough to tell about your company, information about travel domain etc. as people prefer images & videos rather than reading a pile of text!

With travel websites, the first question I’d ask is … Who do I need to reach? Who are the people who love to travel. Knowing that, the next question gets to be? What’s really relevant to them and you take it from there, filling your website with what’s relevant to the people you want to reach.
