R.E.S.P.E.C.T. - Your Client's Communications Preferences

How do you communicate with your customers?

"We all have our preferred means of communication. If you want to be successful, grow your business and develop good client relationships, find out how your clients want to communicate. Just because you think that e-mail is the most efficient tool doesn't mean that your clients and prospects like to sit in front of a computer all day."

Email is great for documenting agreements/understandings with your clients...but many prefer phone calls/personal meetings to discuss ideas. They are the client, and we are here to serve them. So, I have found it useful to email the client my understanding of our conversation and what next steps I am taking...if there was some mis communication, they will address it in a reply to this email.

you should communicate with different perspectives in order to make new ways to market and to attract them in many ways ....

I love email because I can control how much I am interrupted during my work day - however, many of my website clients prefer telephone or Skype. Skype is great for my international clients - it makes them feel like we're in a meeting even though we may be a few thousand miles apart. Also if we're discussing website designs they like they can send me the links and we can both look at them at the same time (while having both hands free!).

It's much better to adapt your style to suit the other person than to try and get them to work the way you do - you get a much better result that way!
