Links In Blogging

Hey I recently started a blog and I'm really not good with computers,so I have a question :For example if I write on my blog "you can find the recipe here" how do I make the word here so that ppl can click on it and go to the recipe.Does that make sense?I want the readers to be able to click on a word and go to the recipe. Can this only happen with wordpress, cause I have eblogger and i think I've seen it done before. Please help!

I think this is what you are asking. Making a link

<a href="http://xyz.com/recipe-name....">the text</a>

where "the text" is the clickable text and -http://xyz... is the URL (address) of the recipe.

I would strongly suggest instead of making "here" the clickable text you make the recipe name, major recipe ingredient or what you feel is important, the clickable text. This is called anchor text and is important for optimization for search engines to work out what is important and for rankings, and people searching in their browser to find the recipe.

If you do a search for "here". Adobe reader comes up first or second since there is - To get the Adobe Reader click "here" is everywhere. Whereas if you do a search for "mushrooms a la grecque" you get recipes for the dish and somewhere in there your recipe for the dish.

I agree with the previous forumer that instead of the word 'here' it's better to put down some keywords, like 'if you want to know how to cook bla-bla-bla' visit this site. Instead of 'bla-bla'bla' leave a link to the site.

On the topic of spammers

@carolibartels, I know what you are speaking of. Once you start a business, you get inundated with lots of offers for "assistance". Many of them are offshore companies from India that are just sending spam or cold-calling you on your phone.

Not sure what this has to do with the current thread. Perhaps you should have posted this as a separate thread.

On the blog topic. I would suggest using Wordpress since it has a very good editor for authoring new posts. Creating links is as easy as highlighting and clicking a link button.

Usually any blogging platform that your using will have the ability to turn text into links.

With Wordpress, you highlight your text, click the button at the top section of your post that your creating to make the link, add the website address, and it's done for you.

Or you can also make a quick Google search for creating links.
