A Snippet:

With SEO Copywriting, not only do you have to write expert content that will appeal to your reader, but you also have to make it appeal to the search engines. This includes using targeted keywords to effectively deliver your message. Not sure how to do that? Well then, keep reading!

Good article. Reminds us of all the basics. However, I'd like to stress something that is often confusing to people. I can't tell if Lisa is saying this or not.

When Google talks about "updating content," many people have translated that to mean Google wants you to change your existing copy frequently. This is not always the case. It depends on your site topic and several other things.

Frequently, all Google is looking for is "up to date" content. It doesn't matter if it was written today or five-years ago. As long as it is current now.

Continually adding *additional* content (articles, press releases, etc.) is a good thing with Google. That was made perfectly clear in their patent application. (Which is where you'll also find the explanation of updated text.)

I'm not disagreeing with Lisa. As I said, I can't tell if that's what she meant to say or not. Just thought I'd clarify to be on the safe side. :)

I was just coming here to say the same thing, Karon!

I was also confused by Lisa saying in one spot to use 1-3 phrases per page and in another spot saying 1-4.

Personally, I'd never optimize for just 1 phrase, as that's when things start to sound crazy because you're repeating that one phrase over and over again.

Optimizing any given page of content for 3-5 and sometimes even more phrases, seems to provide the best bank for the buck, imo. Also, keeping a combination of competitive and not so competitive phrases in use on each page is usually a good idea.
