Hi All,

I've been thinking seriously of breaking away from Outlook Express. I'm looking at Thunderbird (from Mozilla). Anybody used it? What do you think?

I'm not a Eudora fan (been there, done that). Any others you've personally used and like I'd be interested to hear about.

I LOVE Thunderbird! I've been a Eudora user for nearly 10 years, and never thought anything could possibly wean me away from it until I tried Thunderbird. It also has a very nice RSS client and newsreader built into it, though I prefer to use a different one.

It doesn't have quite the flexibility that Eudora has, but I find I just don't need it as much as I once used to (or once thought I did :p). I don't need to be able to add custom headers or edit the .ini file anymore.

The interface is a pleasure to work with, and the adaptive junk filters work really well right out of the box. This weekend I recieved 275 spams. It didn't quite catch them all, but more importantly, it didn't tag any non-spam items as spam.

Give it a test. Set both clients to leave mail on the server (assuming you're using a POP3 server) so that if you want to revert back to OE, you can uninstall Thunderbird without losing any mail.

I'd be interested in hearing what you think of it - keep us posted!
