A Snippet:

With all of this talk about content, don't you think it's time to have a frank discussion about grammar? Our Web sites are our online store fronts—our online images. If our sites are full of grammar errors, what does that say about the professionalism of our businesses?

Robin does a great job of pointing out common mistakes all of us make when writing for the web or Web. We're fortunate to work with professional writers here so that's one less area I have to worry about.

I think the informality of blogging has led to more grammatical errors being published. On the other side of the fence there are many web sites, sorry, Websites that are translated into English and although grammatically correct they sound stilted and boring (when read aloud as you suggested).

A Website that is poorly written lessens the credibility of that site and the ability to convert visitors is diminished. Grammar is often overlooked in light of the "more important" items needed to make a site successful. Good points Robin, keep 'em coming.
