Wish I could go back to college....We were not allowed to use calculaters when I was in college!
Anyhow, I'm farily good with computing. I have two businesses that do well and both have websites that are fairly well ranked. My webmaster helps me with some answers AND he recommended the software Contribute, which I now have. I have learned how to change text, add pictures etc. on both sites. I also just purchased Optilink and am obsessed with SEO lately, so I am slowly learning how all the applications tie in. I am having trouble with the lingo there though. I would like eventually to get some basic help with terminology.
The other big area I am wanting to learn is in graphic software. I want to design my own flyers and newspaper ads, mostly. There are some other areas I could enter. I have had one graphic person recommend InDesign and another recommend Adobe Illustrator. They both said it would be to hard for me to learn, since they both had a time figuring it out. Is it that hard? What else could I use? I eventually want to learn to publish and handle my own web sites. Is there a place I can go to learn these things? I need to do this on my own time and at my own pace. I would appreciate any information.
Thanks

You are right, we need a glossary so I've started one here:

Whenever you come across a term that you would like explained, just post it in that thread.

Regarding the graphic software - I'll have to let someone else jump in there.

I eventually want to learn to publish and handle my own web sites. Is there a place I can go to learn these things? I need to do this on my own time and at my own pace.

First, start with this thread:

What HTML software or books do you recommend?

Then, have a look at the following:

I know how you feel, they hadn't even invented home computers yet when I was in school.

I’m a consumer advocate for a company called Video Professor. My role as consumer advocate is to ensure a better understanding of Video Professor and how our products can give you the tools to use various software programs to your desired level.

Whenever I need to learn something new, one thing I do is go to google.com, put in the topic I want more training on and follow those terms with "free tutorials". There are millions of great training resources out there (and many of the best are free).
