Hi, V! :standingw

What sorts of things are you interested in? Many businesses can "work" if the business owner is realistic about the investment (money, time, effort, etc.) that's involved and is willing/able to make a sufficient investment for the business to succeed.

There's a saying I like to quote: "There's fast, there's cheap, and there's good. You can pick any two."

This means, if you want success quickly, you need to be willing/able to invest money (to pay other people for their time/effort). If you want business success without spending much money, be prepared for it to potentially take a long time and require a lot of your own energy. If you want fast and cheap -- that is, you aren't prepared to invest either time or money -- don't expect success.

Since most of us don't arrive at the idea of starting a home-based business because we're already rolling in cash, more often than not, we're in the position of choosing "cheap and good" -- which means mostly what we've got to invest is our time and energy.

Unless it's something you're interested in, you're going to find it hard to give it the effort it requires or stick to it for the length of time it can take to be successful. So, figure out what you like, what interests you, and brainstorm ways to turn those interests into a business!

I think the main question to ask yourself is what your interests are. If you're passionate about your business it has a much, much greater chance of being successful in the long run.

Wow, Torka! Great response! I think you summed it up!

I just want to make a note here that you should be warry of anything advertised on the internet as home based business that can make quick cash! Don't buy into it! I'm sure you're smart enough not to if you're here asking for help though.

What do you love to do? Do you bake? Do you sew? Do you garden? Do you have a talent or service that surpasses others? What are you good at? What do you have time for?

My business grew out of a passion for garage sales! Any little thing can work! And it doesn't always require a lot of start up money!

I'm happy to help you brainstorm!

Best wishes

I am new as well, but I wanted to let you know the biggest thing I have found is you have to do something you enjoy and interests YOU! Like some of the others have said, DON't buy into the get rich tom. You need to do your research and really find a company willing to work for you! :0)

I am a stay at home mom and I found just that company and it has been wonderful! [edited] I am a former teacher and did not want to work full time while our children were young!

Please remember Do something for you! Don't try and sell or do something that you would not enjoy, because chances are you would not do well as people would see that in your expresion! Good Luck!:thumbsup2

I will be praying that God gives you direction!

One lucrative business venture is to become an introducer for Sub Prime Mortgages - this isn't what I'm doing I'm having a stab at the secured loans market.

The problem is it would be home based as you can do it from home, but there would probably be one or two visits to potential customers, although in saying that, a lot of it can be done over the phone.

Also I don't know where you are located, but in the UK you have a few legal loopholes to jump through.

It's worthwhile a quick investigation if you've got time. However, good luck with whatever you decide

When I decided to do this 6 months ago, I envisioned a long learning curve, but once I had my site up, I'd sit back and watch the money flowing in.

WRONG!

This takes a LOT of time to do. I own another company(not internet based) and yet I still work on my site everyday-marketing, accounting, blogging, linking, etc.

But the cool thing is the passion(as mentioned before). I've owned and/or managed 5 companies in my life, and my passion is not for the products i sell-its for the chance to build a business without having to hire any employees.
I hate responsibility...even tho I own businesses and have a kid...but enuf is enuf.

I've been open on the net for six weeks now, and am starting to see some real long term potential to make a lot of money...without dealing with a bunch of whiners.

By the end of 2007, I wanna have three stores going. And i look forward to getting up everyday, filling my orders and marketing my site. Work isn't work if you love what you do. Plus I can have an occasional Jack Daniels on the rocks as I work. Try that at your day job!
