I'm starting fresh with the Databuilders web site. I plan to offer news and reviews on free software for building web sites. The target is small/home office busineses. I hope to make it a community site with much input from business owners. I'm also establishing a collaborative book on e-commerce that every registered user can contibute to. I'm going with the two heads are better than one theory. Please take a look at development.databuilders.net/databuilders and let me know what you think.

Thanks,

Hi Jason,
I think you have a good plan.
Before I had access to the SBI Manager I found this site could do a pretty good supply/demand search. They email you the results within 2 minutes as well as the list that returns for you on there site.
I believe this site has a affiliate program that you may want to look into.
I did notice you have only 1 link coming out from your site.
I would suggest you may want to look at some affiliate partnerships to bring in another revenue line and to have more content to offer to your visitors and the spiders!
Blogs.
I will use this as an example.
I am new to on-line e commerce and I know nothing about Blogs,
I would have stayed at your site longer if I could have seen a tutorial on how to do an excellent blog.I may have sighned up for a newsletter if it contained info. or a few things I should be adding to my blog as time went by.You would be emailing me up dates in your monthly edition.

from what you describe you are going after a pretty big market out there,
I would suggest that you narrow it down a little to find a more profitable niche.
I have been noticing a bit of a trend happening in the Vancouver area that surrounds me.From downtown out to the suburbs every billboard.bus ad and bus-stop bench ad has a web site address.
I think the business owner who is looking to advertise and bring in business from the LOCAL consumer around him is going to be the new yellow pages.
Ours is smaller this year by the way.
I may leave the e-commerce clientale to the big guns and maybe put up something that targets this new market that is coming in to the net.
Informative, simple, all the resources they need without a ton of high tech.
Mom and pop owners will not have the time or the desire to learn any of it.
I would have everything right down to the web templates.(I may be able to help you out a little more in that area.
A site you might visit www.newbie club.com
I found it was not the site for me for a number of reasons, but I always think you get 1 idea or point from anything.
*One thing I did notice on your site was your left hand nav.bar.
Lots of space there not used,
what if you used your button as a header as well.

BLOGS
Do a great one
That Works.

WEB TEMPLATES
123 it's done.

And so on, I will do this on my site as I build,it will give the allusion of more content and size.
you may have a little more leg work to do in the advertising part.
I would start in the area surrounding you, your own home town.
List every business you can think of or grab the yellow pages and let your fingers do the walking.Who does not have a website that needs one.
I would have a letter ready for the different companies that would appeal to each. The vet may need a different theme than a esthetition or a baker.
I would really put some hard work into that letter telling each bus. WHY they need your service and the features you offer but really put out the BENIFETS.
like anything else sold it's because of what's in it for ME!
Sorry,
My husband is non-computer,when I go into details about the net,he calmley
says "move dear, your'e blocking the tv.

I give him 2 thumbs up and say "Excellant"
SHEECH,dreamstealers are everywhere!
Hope you keep yours!
Tanna

Hi Jason,

I just went to your Databuilder site and requested your email about drop shipping. Just so you are aware, there is a very good resource on drop shipping that you fail to mention. It's Chris Malta's Drop Ship Source Directory (http://www.worldwidebrands.com/wwb/main_dropship.asp).

I have personally used them and they are one of the few reliable resouces for finding a "real" drop shipper or light bulk wholesaler.

Your new site looks great...

My best to you w/the revamp project!
Valerie

I love this forum. Where else could I get such quick and helpful feedback? All of you are great. I printed the replies so I can go back and look over them. The site has a way to go, but I think I'm on the right track.

Thanks again,
