View Full Version : Small Business Friendly Social Networking Sites
veronica 22nd April 2008, 12:30 AM Hi Friends,
I found the following social networking sites to be very useful for small business owners in terms of marketing and networking.
Small business friendly social networking sites.
www.moli.com - One account, multiple profiles and create your business page and group. More emphasis on privacy.
www.vator.tv - Submit your business video pitch.
www.ryze.com - Ryze lets members organize contacts and friends; upcoming events; and even job, real-estate and roommate classifieds
www.xing.com - An account with networking site Xing can "open doors to thousands of companies."
http://www.ecademy.com/ - Ecademy prides itself on "connecting business people" through its online network, blog and message-board chats
Explore and enjoy.

veronica 24th April 2008, 01:32 AM Hey thanks for the links. I will try one of this days.

JonE5 6th June 2008, 04:52 PM Thank you for that information Veronica, it is greatly appreciated.
bdorland 8th June 2008, 08:22 PM I'd also add www.biznik.com (http://www.biznik.com) to that list. Besides the typical networking functionality, they also encourage local networking events and article marketing...
Zafar Ahmed 9th June 2008, 05:15 AM I will add one more site www.orkut.com for it. I am getting lots of traffic from the orkut for my image hosting site
cpr 11th June 2008, 08:07 AM Thanks for the collection of sites, have never heard of most of them and will look into networking "abroad" soon.
Thanks!
simonr 11th June 2008, 03:59 PM Please, please PLEASE don't waste your time on Ecademy, people! It is, of course, possible to get work out of it and so on but the signal-to-noise ratio (that's the polite version of pillock-to-real-person ratio) is far too high.
I used to be a paid up member but the managment there is so, well, at best, flakey, that I simply won't pay another penny to them under pretty much any circumstances!

ginac84 19th June 2008, 02:46 PM Great links, everyone! Along with the sites mentioned, I use Meetup to find networking events in the area. Great way to make new friends/contacts!
konnects.com 28th July 2008, 04:22 PM Hi I would also like to suggest Konnects.com. Our target audience is specifically for small business owners.
master1980 3rd August 2008, 09:19 PM Throw Jippidy in that mix, that's exactly what we're trying to do. Seems like it may be a little of a crowded space.
Kurt Henninger 12th August 2008, 10:54 AM My personal favorite is Directmatches.com. They have a great search feature to find people of similar interests and business ideas on it.

When you join Ning- type in the Ning search keywords relevant to your business and Ning will give you targeted social networks on Ning relevant to you.
Good luck!

zmonique2007 2nd November 2009, 02:13 AM It's hard to work online because you're time to mingle and interaction with other people is limited. However, social networking with my old friends through internet helps me keep in touch with them always.

lordspace 9th November 2009, 08:33 PM I like the feedback sites such as:
http://getsatisfaction.com , http://uservoice.com
You could embed a Javascript widget (Copy/Paste) into your site and people can give feedback about products, vote for features etc.

low bidder 14th November 2009, 11:01 AM Is it worth the time spent on these social networks? It seems I tied to the computer as it is.
victorvera 23rd November 2009, 11:54 PM Wow thank you for sharing these links.
Social media sites are really a big help especially for small to medium entrepreneurs. It lessen the cost on promotion and advertising, thats why as much as possible I try to add all close friends and colleagues in FB, just to help me increase my network.
I like the idea of interacting with you're client or customer so social network is really an advantage if you want to know what your market is telling about your brand.
