I found this to be interesting...
Firefox Used By 1 In 10 Business Professionals (http://www.internetweek.com/breakingNews/showArticle.jhtml?articleID=161600600)
Snippet:
Since the fourth quarter of 2004, Firefox usage has more than doubled among business professionals, Victor Janulaitis, chief executive of Janco said. That rate of adoption is expected to continue next quarter, when the open-source browser is expected to reach up to 25 percent of the market.

Also, I think in last month's issue of Inc. Magazine (http://www.inc.com/home/), there is a full page article about FireFox. This is significant from the point of view that Inc. Magazine is a mainstream business magazine and not a tech magazine. That article likely introduced FireFox to a large audience that may not have previously considered it.

So business people will go through the trouble of downloading, installing and switching to a new browser, but you can't get them to switch to a new search engine?
I made all my employees start using FireFox simply because of the tabbed interface. Makes their job easier. It will be interesting to see IE new version when they add tabbed browsing.

I still haven't been able to completely make the switch from Opera to FireFox. Opera has a "Paste and go" right mouse click option that allows you to paste a url in the address bar and go without the need to hit enter. Seems like a simple thing but it's a time saver and I'm so used to using it. At some point I need to find out if FireFox has this.

Hehe. About the only thing I can think of that I don't like about the Opera browser is that I can't add Yahoo as the default search engine in the search bar. Another reason to go to FireFox I guess.

It is all very interesting, I have been using Firefox since it was still called Firebird and have watched it mature into a very nice browser system. For business professionals I can't say what the drive to switch is.
It has some security benefits and is significantly more standards compliant but aside from two key features (tabbed browsing and built in support for RSS using live bookmarks) what is the reason cited for these professionals using FF?
For me, a webdesigner/developer, it has a multitude of benefits including the extensions, standards compatibility and nice interface. Many web-standards developers use it and/or Opera to build pages with and then make IE adjustments after the fact - if ever.
For all you non webdesigners out there, why did you choose Firefox?

BTW: for you web developers out there who use Firefox, have you tried Chris Pederick's Web Developer Toolbar extension?

I do love the spell checker extension. I use it all the time when posting to forums. Before that I misspelled everything.
(I just fixed two spelling errors in the two sentences above. Man, I love this browser!)

The three big items I've seen repeated are:
1. Security
2. Rendering Speed
3. Tabbed Browsing
Even small efficency increases can seriously add up over time.

St0n3y, what's the name of the spell checker that you are using? I've heard of SpellBound, but I didn't see it at the firefox site.

spellboud 0.7.3. I went looking for it in the FireFox extentions and could not find it. I've got a bug in my FireFox that won't let me install any more extensions but I dare not uninstall and re-install for fear that I won't find that extension again.

Ok, it is the one I had heard of and I've found a safe place where it can be downloaded:
