I was reading this article about MySpace opening up their advertising. While google adwords currently distributes to MySpace, the best I can figure out is MySpace is also opening up its own self service advertising tools -

MySpace also is opening up the program to smaller advertisers through self-service tools.

And also tucked into the article it states

Facebook was scheduled to announce its own ad program Tuesday, though officials refused to discuss its nature.

While I won't be jumping both feet into either of these, I do think it is something to keep an eye on. With the strong qualification of targeting by segment and doing some tracking to ensure low quality isn't an issue ... which I suspect will be based on my previous experiences.

Personally, I stopped using myspace because it's already so ad heavy. I was listening to the radio this morning and the morning show was talking about how Facebook is in and myspace is out. Many of the people called in to say that Facebook was "cleaner" and I agree, it is.
